Description:
Deforestation alerts on Global Forest Watch (GFW) are designed to alert users to the possibility of deforestation in near-real-time to help them respond quickly. The coverage of one type of alerts, RADD, recently expanded to mainland Southeast Asia. This radar-based alert system now detects disturbances in primary tropical rainforest in five additional countries: Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar.
The RADD alerts are included GFW’s integrated deforestation alert layer, meaning that users can now benefit from higher confidence alerts and faster detection of potential deforestation in continental Southeast Asia.
Join GFW’s expert-led office hours on November 20 at 9 PM ET | November 21 at 12 PM WIB for an overview of the deforestation alert systems and more information about the RADD alerts expansion in mainland Southeast Asia. During office hours, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, work through problems and share any lessons learned.
